In January I got the opportunity to go to a photographer meet-up where I got to photograph a few amazing couples with the best backdrop!
My sweet friend Katelyn, with Katelyn Blake Photography, invited me to this amazing photographer meet-up where Jennifer, of Jennifer Cochran Photography, had put together a kick butt stylized session! While I was photographing this particular couple and their setups I decided to challenge myself and my abilities!
Katelyn let me borrow a crystal to play around with – that is what creates the ring of fire you will see in some of the photos & another photographer, Raymie Day Photography, let me borrow her tiny lights which helped created the yellow bubble effect! It was so much fun to use these tools to create a really interesting portrait!!
It was also challenging because after the sun went down we hung out and photographed the couple sitting in front of the the blazing campfire! This is a “challenge” for me because I am a natural light photographer and usually do not like to crank up my ISO to achieve portraits in the dark… BUT I am so happy I did and pushed my camera’s capabilities! While I don’t think I will be changing my style to be more dark & moody as these photos tend to be without the natural light, it was definitely fun to experiment!!
Thank you Katelyn for the invite and getting me out of my house, and thank you to Jennifer for putting together this awesome event for us creatives to be able to have some fun!
XO,
Mary
